Why have an ultrasound performed at Lexington Fetal Photography?
Lexington Fetal Photography is the “clear” ultrasound choice for the following:
- All ultrasounds are performed by Professional Sonographers who are also Board Certified Licensed Registered Nurses. Not Spa-techs that are performing messages/pedicures/and ultrasounds. Insuring the safety of you and your baby, is our primary service, and capturing the absolute best images.
- We are not located in a strip mall, but located in a luxury professional office suite. Where there is privacy from foot traffic at all times.
- We are Lexington’s first and only imaging specialist center, rather than a service spa where capturing images of your baby is not the primary focus.
- You will leave with a memory to cherish for life, created in a facility where the entire focus is you and your baby.
Is it safe? Are there any risks to me, or my baby?
Extensive medical studies over 30 years have found that ultrasound technology is safe and causes no harm to mother or baby. Ultrasounds are now used routinely in the United States for all pregnancies. In 3D/4D scanning exactly the same type and intensity of ultrasound is used as with conventional 2D scanning. 3D and 4D Ultrasound both utilize sound waves to look inside the body. The technology is similar to radar. A probe placed on the body emits sound waves into the body, listens for the return echo and generates an image. 4D ultrasound will be similar to a conventional ultrasound in terms of exposure to your baby.
When can I find out the gender?
16 weeks is the earliest for finding out gender.
What is the best time to do an ultrasound?
Between 16-23 weeks - We can determine the sex and you can see the baby’s entire body at one time, counting fingers and toes, while also watching baby move all around, maybe even catch baby sucking a thumb.
Between 24-29 weeks - This is the ‘best time!” The baby is well defined. Now is the time to see chubby cheeks and for getting a sneak peek of who the baby looks like. While still allowing baby plenty of room to move around and providing a variety of poses.
Between 30-35 weeks - Is a good time but baby is much larger, arms and legs begin crowding and decrease the variety of poses.
